FEEDING THE MULTITUDE
What a great experience it was for our church to be a part of "Feeding the Multitude!" The community responded with 85+ people who showed up for the service of hope. Roger Reid and Ennis Johnson gave testimonies of how Jesus can save and make a positive difference in the life of one who believes. Two persons prayed to receive Christ! A real sense of gratitude was felt from both those who received and those who were there to distribute the food. I sensed that this was a real God-thing that we were privileged to be a part of.
The day before our distribution I asked the congregation to pray for the hearts of those who would be distributing the food and counseling those who responded to the gospel presentation. There was no doubt in my mind that God answered those prayers! I could see the presence of our Lord in the faces of those who offered warm greetings to our guests, held babies while a parent was picking up food, gave hugs to people as they were leaving, and invited people to come back and worship with us.
This is the type of ministry that will make a difference in our community. It reflects the love of Christ and will open hearts to the gospel that otherwise might remain unreceptive. It says that our religion is real--that our love of Jesus goes beyond mere words. It provides a testimony that is hard for the skeptic to refute. It gives the Holy Spirit ammunition to attack the strongholds that the enemy has built up.
Thank you members and guests of EBC for giving to make this ministry possible. Special thanks go out to Ted Shields and Jeff Breisacher for their leadership in this project. Jesus promised that even a cup of cold water given in His name would be blessed. I believe we are seeing the fulfillment of that promise before our eyes!
